The Economic Advantages of E-Books

By Yorlibeth

E-books have an effect on authors, readers, and publishers.

E-books benefit readers because the price is lower than it is to buy a traditional book at a bookstore.  Most readers find it is better to buy an e-book at a lower price than to buy a traditional book at a higher price.

E-books benefit authors because it is easier and cheaper to publish their work.

Although e-books are beneficial for readers and authors, they are not beneficial for publishers.  Publishers depend on traditional books to make a profit and keep their business going. If e-books continue to be popular, the number of hard copies published will shrink , which means the publisher’s profits will decrease.
