More NYC Libraries to Lend E-Readers

By Zipporah

On April 12, 2012, the Queens Library began lending free e-readers to its library users;  if the program is successful, other library locations across the city may soon follow suit. To check out an e-reader, borrowers present a Queens library card, as well as a photo ID. Borrowers are able to use an e-reader for 21 days and renew it twice. Each e-reader comes with e-books from one of five themes: best sellers, romances, mysteries, young adolescent literature, or children’s books. Because the e-readers are compact and lightweight, they are convenient for daily commuters on-the-go. If this pilot program is successful, your local library may soon offer you the opportunity to borrow a pre-loaded e-reader.
